I’ve officially been studying for my microeconomics midterm for too long now if the first thing I thought of upon seeing this was:
20¢ 1ST ¼ MILE 5¢ EACH ADDL ¼ MILE … that’s NOTHING compared to what it is today, even adjusted for inflation. 1942 was a good time to take cabs.
